Your betta fish is not going to survive in a vase. Assuming you are who I think you are, you have a plant on top of your vase right? If so, the roots DO NOT provide him with proper nutrition and that is FACT. He needs protiens and vitamins that plant roots are not going to offer. The plant is covering the only space a vase offers for oxygen exchange. The vase is filled up to the top he needs to come up for air.
Fish are not decorations. He’s not put on this planet to keep you happy while he sits miserable. What kind of life is that? Unfortunately, he doesnt have a choice because humans like you will take advantage of the fact that they have power over them and put them in these miserable homes. Yeah bettas make people happy, mine make me happy all the time but I take care of mine. Besides, proper care makes their colors brighter and their personalities stand out. Get over yourself and put the time and effort to take care of another living thing. The world doesn’t revolve around you, nothing is put on this planet for your entertainment to have you just abuse them in return. People offered you advice and you should take it instead of doing this. Your betta is miserable. Your betta will get sick. He needs to be taken care of.
Even my 12-year-old cousin wasn’t this childish or selfish when I explained to him why he shouldn’t have a pet he can’t take care of. How pathetic.

His tank is on my bedside table now. When I wake up in the morning and turn on the tank light, he swims over and puffs up at me until I feed him. :3

Sprung a Leak
I woke up this morning to a loud dripping noise. Lenin’s (my betta) small acrylic tank was gushing all over my bookshelf. I managed to save my shelf/the books/Lenin, but now I am tankless. I don’t have room for a big tank, so I’m contemplating getting a higher quality 2.5 or 5 gallon one (leaky one is only 1 gallon). But A lot of the filter systems that come with them are way too powerful, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
Alternatively, I have a big empty pickle jar which I could use if I don’t find anything I like and just want to go filter-less.
